An eight-year-old Emirati boy has successfully overcome his chronic conditions and can now speak for the first time.

Suhail had a six-month intensive treatment at Abu Dhabi’s Al Mushrif Children’s Specialty Centre.

He was diagnosed with epilepsy, dysarthria, and oral dysphagia at the age of three.

These conditions affected his ability to communicate effectively and perform basic tasks such as eating.

He was under the care of a speech therapist at Al Mushrif Children’s Specialty Centre and Al Towayya Children’s Specialty Centre, Emadaddin Ali Al Rababah.

Suhail underwent a treatment plan consisting of three sessions per week over six months.

However, significant improvement was observed within just one week due to the systematic and comprehensive approach taken.

Suhail’s oral muscle strength, range of motion, and speech production skills showed remarkable progress.

He began articulating mono- and multi-syllabic words, improved his ability to chew solid foods, and enhanced his control over saliva.

Suhail continues to refine his language skills and oral muscle strength through an ongoing speech therapy program.

The deputy chief medical officer at Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), Dr. Fawaghi Al Naqbi commended Suhail’s remarkable progress within a short period.

He praised the expertise available at AHS’s network of specialty clinics, which are part of the broader PureHealth ecosystem.

Emphasizing Suhail’s determination and his parents’ commitment to the therapy sessions, Al Rababah highlighted that his ability to speak improved significantly.

Suhail has successfully reintegrated into everyday life and now uses speech to express himself at home.

The newfound ability to communicate has profoundly impacted Suhail’s life and that of his family.

Previously, Suhail relied on crying to convey his needs, making it challenging for his family to understand him fully.

However, after just one week of treatment, significant improvements were noticed. Suhail began pronouncing letters, forming words, and engaging in conversations.

The family expressed their happiness and gratitude towards the dedicated healthcare professionals who supported Suhail and helped them understand his condition and how to manage it.
