Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, made a visit to Surrey to draw attention to the Surplus to Supper charity and its significant impact on the local community and environment. The royal visit took place at Sunbury Cricket Club and aimed to highlight the organization’s efforts in bridging the gap between food waste and food poverty in Surrey and West London.

Surplus to Supper is dedicated to redistributing surplus food, preventing it from going to waste, and ensuring it reaches those in need. On a daily basis, the charity redistributes over three tonnes of surplus food to various local projects, including food banks, charities, schools, and community organizations.

During his visit, Prince Charles had the opportunity to meet with volunteers directly involved in sorting and delivering food. He actively participated in loading delivery vans and even accompanied one of the drivers to witness the transportation of the food.

Following his visit to Sunbury Cricket Club, the Prince of Wales proceeded to the Hanworth Centre Hub in Feltham. This youth center offers a range of services aimed at creating a safer and more connected community. The center receives regular food deliveries from Surplus to Supper, which significantly contribute to the services they provide.

Prince Charles personally made a delivery from Surplus to Supper at the Hanworth Centre Hub. He then engaged with staff and volunteers, listening to their accounts of how the food deliveries have positively impacted the services offered by the hub. The center serves as a safe and welcoming space for young people, including those who have faced adversity, and supports them in building confidence and acquiring new skills for the future.

This visit by the Prince of Wales to Surplus to Supper underscores his commitment to raising awareness about important societal issues such as food waste and food poverty. By shining a spotlight on the charity’s work, Prince Charles aims to encourage further support and involvement in tackling these challenges.

The Prince of Wales has been actively involved in various charitable endeavors throughout his life, focusing on areas such as environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and community development. His visit to Surplus to Supper aligns with his ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of individuals and communities across the United Kingdom.

The Royal Family’s engagement with charitable organizations and their efforts to address pressing social issues remain a core aspect of their public role. Prince Charles’ visit to Surplus to Supper serves as yet another example of the family’s dedication to supporting initiatives that bring about positive change and improve the well-being of individuals and communities in need.
