Five Customs personnel, minor girl killed in KP’s DI Khan
Five Pakistan Customs personnel were killed when unidentified men opened fire at their vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday, police said. A minor girl, a passerby, also fell victim to the shooting.
Police added that the customs officials were on duty when they were attacked in the city’s Daraban area. The unidentified men fled after the shooting.
In the recent past, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan have seen a surge in terrorist activities.
Two weeks ago, militants stormed a police checkpost in Kulachi tehsil. But police retaliated, forcing the miscreants to flee.
Militants equipped with sophisticated weapons along with laser guns stormed the checkpost in the Rorri area, according to media reports.
On Wednesday, security forces killed seven terrorists who were trying to infiltrate the Afghanistan-Pakistan border in KP’s North Waziristan district.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said that the movement of the seven-member group was detected on Tuesday by security forces in the general area of Spinkai, Ghulam Khan.
Army men earlier this week told the military leadership that terrorists having sanctuaries in Afghanistan were “acting as proxies” against Pakistan and its economic interests, especially the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
