Jenna Ortega joins Wednesday for season 2
In a recent news Jenna Ortega has announced about appearing in Netflix’s famous series Wednesday’s season 2.
Netflix has officially renewed the highly popular series “Wednesday” for a second season, according to an article on Deadline. The show, a stand-alone Addams Family series created by Tim Burton, became a massive hit after its premiere, garnering over 252 million views and surpassing the viewership of other popular Netflix originals like “Stranger Things” and “Bridgerton.”
The first season of “Wednesday” received critical acclaim and earned 12 Emmy nominations, with lead actress Jenna Ortega receiving a nomination in the Leading Actress in a Comedy Series category. The show went on to win four Emmy awards.
Although details about the plot of Season 2 are scarce, creators Al Gough and Miles Millar have hinted at the possibility of introducing more Addams family members. During a recent Tudum appearance, the cast confirmed this development, although they did not disclose specific details. Additionally, plans for an expanded Addams Family universe are in the works, with a spinoff series centered around Uncle Fester already in development.
The production of Season 2 faced delays due to the Hollywood strikes in 2023. However, it has now been confirmed that filming will commence in late April 2024 in Ireland, marking a change from the first season, which was shot in Romania. Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date for the second season.
The main cast members from Season 1, including Jenna Ortega, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, and Jamie McShane, are expected to return for Season 2. However, the fate of certain characters, such as Principal Weems (played by Christie) and Dr. Kinbott (played by Lindhome), remains uncertain after the dramatic events of the Season 1 finale.
One notable addition to the cast for Season 2 is acclaimed actor Steve Buscemi, although his role has not been revealed.
Fans can expect Season 2 of “Wednesday” to be even more action-packed and to have a stronger emphasis on horror compared to the first season’s teenage romance elements. Jenna Ortega, who also serves as an executive producer, described the upcoming season as having a cinematic feel, with each episode resembling a movie.
“Wednesday” Season 2 will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix. The series is part of Netflix’s tiered subscription plans, with options for Standard with ads, Standard, and Premium.
As the anticipation builds for the second season, fans can stay updated on the latest news and announcements by following “Wednesday” on Netflix and official sources.
