Punjab Police refutes news of personnel resigning en mass

Adds that such news is an attempt to mislead public

Punjab Police has refuted rumours about resignations being tendered by officers of the service after the Bahwalnagar incident.

Police made a post on the social media site X, saying that the the claims were aimed at misleading the public.

“The rumors spread by some miscreants on social media about the resignation of police officers are absolutely false, fabricated and baseless,” police said.

“No resignation was received in any police office including the IG office. Action is being taken against those who try to mislead the public and the police force with such malicious propaganda,” it added.

Reports had emerged on social media about a purported clash between Police and army in a police station in Bahawalnagar earlier this week.

However, both sides had later refuted the ‘propaganda’ about the incident and said that the matter had been ‘amicably resolved’.

According to a statement by the police, the two institutions conducted an “immediate” joint investigation after the unconfirmed rumours went viral on social media. Officers of the two institutions reviewed all the facts and resolved the matter “amicably”.
