Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has stressed the need for the collective imperative to safeguard the hard-earned peace as he emphasised the adverse impact of terrorism upon development, the military’s media wing said.

“Maintain unwavering focus on your professional duties in service to the nation,” he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations on Wednesday.

The army chief undertook a visit to Miran Shah and Spinwam in North Waziristan agency, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where he joined troops in celebrating Eid. Commencing with Eid prayers at the frontline, the COAS offered supplications for the enduring stability and prosperity of Pakistan.

He conveyed Eidul Fitr greetings to the troops, commending their dedication and service to the nation. Army men briefed the COAS on operational readiness and the prevailing security landscape, with a specific focus on border security measures along the Pakistan-Afghan border.

While acknowledging the formation’s efforts in fostering peace and stability, COAS Munir attributed such strides to the sacrifices of martyrs, facilitating a secure environment conducive to socio-economic development, particularly in the newly merged districts and throughout KP.

He urged all stakeholders, especially the local populace, to remain vigilant against adversarial elements seeking to destabilize the region.

Earlier, on arrival, the COAS was warmly received by the Peshawar Corps commander.
