SC hints at full court bench in IHC judges case

The 7-member bench will be led by Justice Qazi Faez Isa

A larger bench of the Supreme Court adjourned suo motu proceedings over a letter written by members of the Islamabad High Court alleging interference by intelligence agencies on Wednesday.

Just before proceedings ended, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa hinted that the matter could end up infront of a full court bench at later hearings.

The case will now be taken up at the end of April.

The seven-member bench is headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and will include ustice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Musarrat Hilali, Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Naeem Afghan.

The bench was constitued on Monday after former Chiej Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani refused to head a judicial commission created by the government.

Six judges of Islamabad High Court had demanded that a judicial convention be summoned over the alleged interference of intelligence agencies in the judiciary.

However, following a full court reference in the SC, the chief justice had met the prime minister and asked for a judicial commission to be formed instead.
