Pro-Palestinian protesters calls for ‘immediate’ Gaza ceasefire

Protesters demand govt play role in evacuation of wounded in Gaza

A large number of pro-Palestinian protesters marched in Islamabad on Sunday to express solidarity with people living in Gaza and demanded an immediate ceasefire in the country.

“The government should play a role in the evacuation of wounded people in Gaza,” Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mushtaq Ahmed said while addressing the protesters.

The health ministry in Gaza has said that at least 32,782 people have been killed in the territory during more than five months of fighting between Israel and Palestinian groups, AFP reported.

The toll includes at least 77 deaths over the past 24 hours, a ministry statement has said, adding that 75,298 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the fighting began on October 7.

Ahmed, who also participated in the protest last Sunday, lamented that the number of deaths was increasing day by day. He added that everyone should raise their voice as Palestinians continued.

Protestors who marched in the federal capital’s D-Chowk were part of the campaign ‘Save Gaza’.

A police contingent was deployed in the sensitive area to deal with any emergency. They ended the protest after Maghrib prayers.
