Salon closed in KP’s Swat for promoting ‘obscenity’
Police closed a salon in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat district on Thursday for fears of promoting “obscenity”.
They took action after a video showing a female staff member of ‘Sky Saloon’ providing facial service to a male customer went viral on social media. Aaj News could not independently verify the veracity of the video.
A first information report against the salon was registered against unidentified men at the Rahimabad Police Station under sections 292 (Sale, etc., of obscene books, etc) and 294 (obscene acts and songs) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Many urged locals in the area to come out after Iftari shut down the salon. The video was apparently uploaded by the customer himself.
According to police, the action was taken to maintain law and order and claimed that female staff members have been sent back to their homes after the closure of the salon.
