PTI announces ‘massive’ KP rally in support of judges
PTI has announced that it will hold a ‘massive’ protest rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday to show support for the six Islamabad High Court judges who have recently accused the country’s intelligence agencies of meddling in judicial affairs.
The rally will be held in Peshawar but people from every district from DI Khan to Chitral will participate, Barrister Gohar and Sher Afzal Marwat said at a press conference in Islamabad.
Gohar expressed solidarity with the six Islamabad High Court judges who wrote a letter to the CJP accusing the country’s intelligence agencies of coercion.
The purpose of the rally is to ensure freedom of the judiciary and secure the freedom for Prisoner Number 804, said Gohar referring to Imran Khan’s prisoner number in Adiala jail.
Marwat said the final plans for the rally would be announced after discussion with the KP authorities.
Latif Khosa said there would be a lawyer’s movement similar to the one launched in 2007.
Marwat said PTI will also hold a rally in Islamabad on March 30 as the Islamabad High Court had given the party the go-ahead.
