All 22 crew members in charge of the ship that crashed into Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore were Indians, new reports have revealed.

On Tuesday, a ship called Dali, a Singapore-flagged vessel, rammed into Baltimore’s Key Bridge that was carrying 22 Indian crew members were safe.

The authorities were alerted that the vessel had a power issue before the collision, and all members were believed to be safe.

The crew members included two pilots who were accountable and were also safe.

In a press statement, Maryland Governor Wes Moore expressed that the ship’s speed was fast, at about eight knots, and that power loss happened before the collision.

He added that investigations show that it was an accident and not a terror attack. The Mayday call empowered workers to halt additional vehicular traffic from accessing the bridge.

“We can confirm that the crew notified authorities of a power issue. These people are heroes. They saved lives last night,” Moore said.

Moore expressed his gratitude towards the individuals who arrived when the help signal was raised. Those people stopped the cars from accessing the bridge.

Moore has declared a state of emergency in Maryland and shared that the investigative team has been working to employ resources from the government.

The Dali struck a steel structure that shoved more than half of the bridge into the water. The ship was on the way toward Colombo, Sri Lanka, from Baltimore. Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed after a 948-foot container ship collided with the four-lane span, shoving other cars into the sea.

A construction team of eight was working on that bridge to fix potholes. However, the construction crew fell into the river, and only two were rescued: one was unharmed and the other was injured.

The missing six workers are presumed dead as the US Coast Guard and Maryland State Police officials reasoned that the water was cold and the long time during the fall and the search.

However, the research operation was suspended 18 hours after the incident.

The Baltimore City Fire Department said that this accident is a mass ‘casualty incident’ and they have footage that shows the magnitude of damage.
