Islamabad’s iconic Faisal Mosque offers worshippers to sit in itikaf in Ramadan. The mosque’s administration has announced the program for itikaf in 2024 with a significant jump in charges.

During itikaf, worshippers seclude themselves in the last 10 days of Ramadan and devote themselves to the worship of Allah

This year, a total of 300 people will be able to sit in itikaf in Faisal Masjid. Applicants will get slots on ‘first come first serve’ basis.

The mosque’s administration has fixed a deadline of the 10th day of Ramadan for application this year.

Applications can be filed on a form that is available at the Islamic Centre attached to the mosque. The application carries a fee of Rs5,000 that is non-refundable. The fee has to be paid via bank draft and proof has to be submitted along with the application.

The fee has been raised from Rs3,000 last year. However, the charges will not include food for worshippers at at sehri and iftari and people will have to arrange tit on their own.

Although food is not provided to the worshippers, the administration provides relgigious books as well as a copy of the Quran to the worshippers during their time of seclusion. Lectures are also organised for the people in itikaf.

A copy of the applicant’s national identity card and two passport sized photo will also have to be submitted along with the form. The maximum age limit for itikaf has been set at 60 years.

If a person’s application is accepted, they will have to reach the mosque before iftar on the 20th day of Ramadan.
