Dragon Ball manga creator dies at 68

Japanese artist Akira Toriyama was celebrated for his contributions by fans

Akira Toriyama, the Japanese manga creator behind Dragon Ball, has died at the age of 68.

According to a statement from Bird Studio, the Japanese artist died on March 1 because of an acute subdural hematoma.

“It’s our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation with great enthusiasm,” the studio wrote in a statement. “Also, he would have many more things to achieve.”

The statement by Bird Studio added, “However, he has left many manga titles and works of art to this world. We hope that Akira Toriyama’s unique world of creation continues to be loved by everyone for a long time to come.”

Akira Toriyama was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1955. He did tertiary education and after high school, he joined a marketing agency. He came to the manga industry at the age of 23 where he lost. ‘Wonder Island’ was the first published work of Toriyama at Weekly Shōnen Jump after sending many publications.

Later, he was attributed in the magazine as one of Japan’s highest manga honors.

Toriyama is famous for his popular manga ‘Dragon ball Z’ in 1984. Dragon Ball was arranged into 519 chapters, from 1984 to 1995 in Weekly Shōnen Jump. He is known for his ‘unique world of creation’ including manga, TV series, and video games.

According to the statement by the studio, the small funeral will take place and it requested fans not to send flowers or other offerings at the funeral.
