SSGC announces gas availability hours for Sehar, Iftaar in Ramazan
The natural gas would be available from 3am to 9am and 3pm to 10pm during Ramazan, the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited said on Thursday.
“We would like to assure our customers of uninterrupted gas supplies for Sehar and Iftaar preparations,” the SSGC said in a statement.
But the company reminded the people of declining gas reserves, citing that around 10% depletion in the country’s gas reserves has led to the widening gas demand-supply gap.
“For this reason in order to ensure improved gas pressure, SSGC would be carrying out gas profiling from 09am to 03pm and then during night times from 10pm to 03am,” it said.
The SSGC said that such timings have been worked out to provide convenience in food preparations for Sehat and Iftaar.
Ramazan is expected to start on March 11 in Pakistan as the expected start day in the Arabic world is March 10.

The use of domestic cylinders in Pakistan has increased over the last two years. The South Asian country has been looking for options to meet its demand for natural gas.
But in the recent past, the government has made a whopping increase in gas prices to meet the International Monetary Fund’s condition.
Last month, the government approved a 67 per cent increase in the gas tariff to meet another condition of the International Monetary Fund to unlock another tranche of loan.
Although the inflation rate was the slowest since June 2022, gas prices have gone through the roof.
