Gold prices extend gains in Pakistan

Per tola gold hits Rs225,400 in local market

The price of gold increased by Rs1,500 and was standing at Rs225,400 per tola for selling on March 7 in Pakistan, the All Sindh Sarafa Jewellers Association reported.

Similarly, the price of 10 grammes of gold was also up by Rs1,286 to Rs193,244 from the earlier price of Rs191,958.

Likewise, the price of 10 grammes 22 karat gold went up to Rs177,140 from the previous rate of Rs175,962.

Meanwhile, the price of per tola and 10 grammes of silver remained constant at Rs2,600 and Rs2,229.08, respectively.

In the international market, Gold prices held above the $2,100 level on Wednesday, near a record peak hit in the previous session, as hopes for US rates easing by mid-year mount, while traders awaited remarks on the economy’s health from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

Spot gold was steady at $2,127.39 per ounce, while US gold futures fell 0.3% to $2,135.30.

Spot prices hit a record peak of $2,141.59 per ounce on Tuesday, rallying for a fifth straight session.
