Pakistan cricket team is set to undergo a training camp under the supervision of the military in Kakul later this year, Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on Tuesday.

Naqvi met with players from the national team in Islamabad on Tuesday, where he spoke about a wide range of topics including the player’s fitness.

He told the players that he had not seen them hit big sixes in the ongoing Pakistan Super League and every big six he saw was hit by a foreign player.

“When I was watching the matches in Lahore, I don’t think a single one of you hit a six that went into the stands,” Naqvi said.

“I have asked the board to make a plan that gets every player’s fitness up to speed. You’ll have to make a proper effort for that,” he added.

Naqvi said that the team has a busy schedule in coming months with series against New Zealand, England and Ireland as well as the T20 world cup. However, a training camp will be organised from March 25 to April 8 in Kakul for the players to get their fitness up to speed.

“The Pakistan Army will be involved in your training, and hopefully, they’ll help you out.”

This is not the first time the army has been involved in training the cricket team. Pakistan’s cricketers had trained with the army before embarking on a tour of England in 2016.

In that series, Misbah ul Haq had performed push-ups after scoring a century.
