At least 21 people, including 14 children, were killed and 26 got injured in rain related incidents across the country as the Karakoram Highway (KKH) was blocked due to land sliding on Saturday.

Intermittent rain continued in many parts of the country, including Murree where a lot of tourists are spending their vacations in the winter season.

Due to rain and snowfall, the land route of the upper areas was blocked while the highway between Gilgit and Chitral was also closed for a week.

Meanwhile, educational institutions in Galyat were closed for five days.

Land sliding at different locations blocked the Karakoram Highway (KKH), an Aaj News correspondent reported, adding that the administration has asked to avoid unnecessary travel.

The operation to clear the roads in Kalam, Chitral, Malam Jabba, and Lowari Tunnel was under way on Saturday.
