District administration managed to rescue 11 stranded tourists in the Pilogah area of Kalam Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after an operation on Thursday.

Footage available with Aaj News showed an excavator clearing a section of road covered with snow.

The stranded tourists belong to Lahore. They had been stranded in the scenic valley for the past four days after heavy snow blocked the road.

All 11 tourists were men and were forced to shelter in a small canopied hotel as they awaited rescue.

The government hired a contractor to clear snow from the road leading up to the hotel so the tourists could be rescued.

Kalam is a valley located 121 kilometres from Mingora in the upper section of Swat Valley in the province. The Aaj News correspondent said the area received around five feet snow.

On Tuesday, the district administration officers and Chitral Levies personnel rescued stranded travellers on the Dir side and ensured their safety.

The Lowari Tunnel in Chitral has been closed to all traffic as a result of snowfall, measuring up to two feet, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.

Lower Chitral police have issued an advisory to travellers commuting from Peshawar to Chitral and from Chitral to the down district. They have urged individuals to exercise caution during their journey, emphasizing the importance of equipping vehicles with snow chains to prevent accidents caused by slippery roads.

The road on the Chitral side has been cleared, but on the Dir side, the snow accumulation is significant which is resulting in complete road closure.
