The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing May 9 riots arrived in Peshawar of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday to arrest PTI leader Mian Aslam Iqbal.

DIG Investigation Lahore Imran Kishwar led the team to arrest Iqbal who has been nominated by the PTI for the seat of chief minister of Punjab.

The JIT team along with a huge contingency of police arrived outside the Speaker House in Peshawar where Iqbal was allegedly staying to evade arrest.

It is pertinent to mention that the Peshawar High Court earlier today granted the PTI leader transit bail in several charges brought against him pertaining to the May 9 riots.

Iqbal was among the several PTI leaders who were declared absconders in the May 9 case. An anti-terrorism court in Lahore had labeled 11 PTI candidates, including Mian Aslam Iqbal, as absconders on May 9, 2023.
