PCB terminates Harif Rauf’s central contract
Pakistan Cricket Board has terminated Haris Rauf’s central contract over a breach of obligations.
According to a statement by the PCB, Rauf’s contract was terminated after a probe into why he refused to join Pakistan’s test series against Australia.
“After a thorough hearing process conducted by a PCB committee and taking into consideration the views of all stakeholders involved in the matter, Haris’ central contract has been terminated from December 1, 2023 and no NOC (No objection certificate) to play any foreign league will be granted up to June 30, 2024,” the statement said.
The PCB also said that Rauf was given a chance for personal hearing on January 30, but his response was found unsatisfactory.
The Board also added that playing for Pakistan is the ‘ultimate honour and privilege’ for any athlete.
“Refusal to be part of Pakistan’s Test squad in the absence of any medical report or justifiable reason is a material violation of the central contract.”
Pakistan had been comprehensively routed by the Kangaroos in the test series, losing all three games.
