The Pakistani husband of Seema Haider, who made headlines in Indian media last year as the wife of Sachin, has hired an Indian lawyer to get his children back. They had gone with their mother to the neighbouring country after she crossed the border to marry her lover.

Ghulam Haider hired Malik Momin through advocate Ansar Burney in Karachi. Burney runs a trust under his name which works for the recovery of missing and kidnapped children.

Last year in July, Sindh’s Jacobabad resident Seema travelled to India with her children via Nepal in May after meeting and falling in love with Sachin on PUBG—a mobile game.

In an interview with BBC, she said that she has adopted Hinduism and refused to return to Pakistan.

Burney has sent Haider’s power of attorney to India.

Haider was working in Saudi Arabia when Seema left for India with the children. He was still in Saudi Arabia when the news broke in July and returned to the country months later.

Last month, Burney told Aaj News that international law prohibits religious conversion of underage children. It is not a simple matter of a woman leaving the country and crossing into India.

When Seema’s case was reported by the media last year, the Foreign Office spokesperson said that the woman’s nationality has not been confirmed so far.

India has not granted consular access to Seema so far either, the spokesperson added.
