The Election Commission of Pakistan’s office in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has issued an order to the Dera Ismail Khan deputy commissioner to arrest the PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur.

In a notification, the ECP asked the DC to present the former minister for Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir Affairs before it on February 28.

The notification was issued on the application filed by lawyer Raja Zulqarnain Abid during the 2021 election. Gandapur’s guards allegedly conducted aerial firing during a party rally in Punjab’s Jhelum two years ago.

A case for violating the code of conduct in the general elections of AJK against Gandapur is pending before the ECP.

He is the PTI’s nominee for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister slot. Candidates backed by Imran Khan’s party has secured maximum number of seats in the province.

On Tuesday, the Peshawar High Court’s Dera Ismail Khan Bench granted protective bail to Gandapur in 26 cases registered against him by several police stations.

Justice Faheem Wali Khan of a single-member bench accepted the bail petition of Gandapur.
