MQM celebrates victory in Karachi
Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan organised a victory celebration in Karachi’s Jinnah ground on Monday, with leaders Mustafa Kamal and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui promosing to fight for Karachi’s rights.
Kamal told supporters that the party had achieved a great victory and that he forgave party founder Altaf Hussain.
He added that Hussain should apologies for his actions and said that he hoped the party founder would meet his end as a man of faith.
Kamal also said that no discussions over government or ministries had taken place in a meeting with Nawaz Sharif. He said that MQM-P was only concerned with solving the issues in Karachi.
He also said that the party had grown bigger than its Muhajir base and non-Muhajirs had voted for it as well.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that if an elected representative from the party does not fulfill their reponsibility, they will have to go home.
He also said that the party did no care for power and would leave it if the people’s voice is not heard.
Siddiqui said that the same group of people who had founded Pakistan will also prove that they know how to run it.
MQM has emerged as the fourth largest group in the elections with 17 seats in the National Assembly.
