Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has stressed the need for giving a majority to one political party rather than a coalition government after the election.

Sharif, along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif, arrived at the polling station in NA-128 Model Town in Punjab’s Lahore to cast his vote.

The PML-N did not field its candidate in the constituency as the party settled for seat adjustment with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan in the constituency. Aun Chaudhry of IPP is contesting election from the area.

Speaking to the media, the PML-N supremo brushed aside the possibility of a coalition government saying that a single party should secure a mandate enough to elect its prime minister.

He said that the party’s top leadership has made sacrifices which translated into election.

“I, Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam, and Hamza Shehbaz have been jailed,” he added.

Sharif urged the nation to come out and cast their vote to steer the country on the path of development.
