The Islamabad police filed a first information report after a deputy assistant director of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) was allegedly abducted on January 31.

The report, filed on February 1, on the complaint of the officer’s brother at Ramna police station invoked Section 365 (Kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The brother of the victim, identified as Najeeb Ullah, claimed that his brother left home around 9:00pm on January 31 and has not returned since then.

The brother said that Najeeb Ullah called him the next morning and sounded frightened.

He claimed that the NADRA officer called him for the second time later that day and told him that some people had held him.

According to the complainant, Najeeb Ullah’s phone went off after that call as the family suspected that the officer had been kidnapped.
