PMD warns snowfall and rain could affect transportation in parts of country
The Pakistan Meteorologist Department (PMD) has warned that snowfall and rain may affect transportation on January 30 and 31 in several parts of the country.
The department forecasted downpours and snowfall in the mountainous areas of the country as a westerly wind system entered Pakistan.
In a statement, the Met Office advised tourists to remain cautious during snowfall for two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) as the westerly wave is likely to affect the upper parts of the country and is expected to persist over the upper part for the next few days.
Murree has been receiving snowfall since Monday, the authorities there are using machinery to clear thoroughfares to provide a smooth pathway to tourists.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi visited various areas including Jhika Gali, Kashmir Point, Mall Road, Kuldana and other areas and reviewed the arrangements finalized by the administration to facilitate the tourists.

The administration had taken solid steps to remove snow from different roads to facilitate the tourists, the DC said.
He informed that Murree had received 0.5 inches of snow and salt was also being sprinkled on the roads.
The personnel of all the concerned departments were in the field and traffic was normal on the roads, he added.
