Mexican man arrested for walking on wing after opening plane’s emergency door
The authorities in Mexico arrested a passenger after he opened an aeroplane’s emergency door and walked onto the wing, BBC reported.
Mexico International Airport said that the action of the man caused no harm, however, the passenger had been handed to police.
Those abroad the plan released a joint statement, saying the man had everyone’s support.
Reports said that the passenger opened the door after the Guatemala City-bound plane was stuck for hours on the tarmac without air conditioning or water for passengers.
The incident occurred on January 25 after the Aeromexico flight was scheduled to take off from Mexico City but got delayed due to a maintenance issue.
An incident report said that the changing of the plane became necessary after the unidentified passenger’s action.
Meanwhile, fellow passengers had different views than the authorities.
“All passengers on the flight from CDMX [Mexico City] to Guatemala [flight] AM 0672 state that the passenger on board who opened the emergency window was for the protection of everyone, with the support of everyone, since the delay and lack of air created dangerous conditions for the health of the passengers,” the handwritten note by fellow passengers reads.
“He saved our lives,” they wrote - and added their names and signatures to the note distributed on social media.
