A woman gave birth to a baby in the parking lot of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi, as the hospital’s labour ward is under construction.

According to a report, when the woman was brought to the hospital, she did not have time to shift in the room to give birth. Gynecologist Dr Sumaira and her staff completed the procedure in an auto-rickshaw.

MS Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Dr. Nasim said that the labour ward has been under construction for three months, and patients are routinely sent to Sobhraj Hospital since the work started.

He revealed that a woman from Orangi Town came first time to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, as she had been shifted to the hospital in an emergency.

There wasn’t enough time to shift her to a room as she went into labour. However, Dr Nasim said the delivery was completed without any issue.

He said that both the mother and baby are well and have been shifted to Sindh Government Hospital Liaqatabad.
