At least five labourers were abducted from Hoshab tehsil of Balochistan’s Kech district on Wednesday, Levies officials said.

The administration arrived and cordoned the area after being informed of the abduction of the labourers all of whom were reported to have hailed from Punjab.

According to the Levies officials, as many as five armed men abducted the labourers who were installing a new tower for a mobile telecom company and had been there without security measures.

The abductees were identified as Nazir Ahmed, Mohammad Tariq, Safdar Ali, Farooq and Hasnain.

The deputy commissioner of Kech has dispatched a team of the Levies to the area and initiated a search for the kidnapped workers.

In October last year, four labourers were injured when unidentified men hurled a hand grenade and opened fire at a construction company in the Mangocher area of the Kalat area in Balochistan.
