Lahore police rescues girl being harassed by cab driver
Lahore police have arrested a cab driver with the assistance of safe city cameras for allegedly harassing a girl who was going to university in his vehicle.
The girl claimed the driver started harassing her amid travel. When the car reached Raiwind, she called 15 and asked for assitance.
A spokesperson for Safe City said the police responded to incident immediately after receiving the call and arrested him near Nawab Town. The girl was rescued safely.
The Safe City cameras helped the police in pinpointing the location of the vehicle after the incident, the spokesperson said.
The police initiated a probe into the matter with the help of videos of cameras in which the girl was seen exiting the moving car, and slamming its door aggressively, said a spokesperson.
However, police also advised females to install the Punjab police’s Women’s Safety App, featuring live chat and emergency services 15, which provides rapid rescue.
According to a spokesperson Punjab police has assisted 300,000 women with this application so far.
