A Japanese man who has four wives and two girlfriends wants to have 54 children. He has planned to have more children than Tokugawa Ienari, an emperor who lived in the late 18th and early 19th century, had. He is searching for his new wife.

Watanabe Ryuta, 35, in a TV show last month revealed that he has been living with his three wives, Next Shark reported. He has two children from his first wife and a newborn from his third. His fourth wife, aged 24, lives separately from them.

He has hoped to surpass the Japanese ruler. Tokugawa Ienari who died in 1841 fathered around 53 children with 27 concubines during his reign in the Edo Period, according to reports.

“I want to overtake him. As such, I want to have 54 children, so my name can go down in history. I am still searching for a new wife,” Ryuta said.

His three wives each have their room and he follows a schedule. In the show, Ryuta shared that for the past 10 years he was jobless and serving as a house husband. He lives off of his wives’ and girlfriends’ paychecks.

Watanabe’s first wife had no issue with her husband’s lifestyle after getting to know about him, however, his second wife wanted to end the marriage. But she later changed her mind and accepted the “polygamous relationship.”

It merits here to mention that polygamy is illegal in Japan. According to Watanabe, he plans to marry one of his wives, divorce her later and marry the next woman.
