The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has approved the appointment of Lieutenant General Hidayat ur Rehman (Retd) as the chairman of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission.

The notification, dated January 13, also announced the other three members of the commission. They will hold the office for a period of three years and will be entitled to draw pay and allowances as per prescribe.

It is pertinent to mention that Lt. Gen Hidayat ur Rehman (Retd) was the Peshawar Corps Commander in 2014 when the Army Public School (APS) tragedy happened on December 16.

The attack on the school had left 144 people, including 122 students killed in one of the worst attacks in the history of the country.
