The government of Brazil has postponed the suspension of visa requirements for travelers from specific countries until April 10 this year.

The decision came amid a surge in tourist arrivals in the country during the festive season of the Rio Carnival Festival in February.

Tourists from Australia, Canada, and the US are allowed to entre the country without requiring a visa as the Brazilian government has announced that it is still in the process of finalising a visa policy that will require travelers from all countries to apply for a visa to entre Brazil.

It is pertinent to mention that the tourist visa requirement was initially postponed by the government on October 1, 2023. Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva set January 10 as the new deadline for latest announcement regarding the changes made to the visa policy.

Last week, Silva announced that the country is still working on finalising the new visa system, saying that the country decided to keep the current rules in place until April.
