Fans and critics are heaping praise on the Indian movie ‘12th Fail’ which is believed to draw inspiration from the real-life experiences of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Shraddha Joshi and (Indian Police Service) IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma.

Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar starred in the film that is based on Anurag Pathak’s best-selling book of the same name.

The movie plot revolves around the couple’s first meeting and shows how Joshi helped Sharma achieve his dream of becoming an IPS officer.

Raised in a difficult environment in the Madhya Pradesh district of Morena, Sharma received a third division in matriculation. While he cleared eleventh standard (first year), Sharma failed to clear any subject in the twelfth standard other than Hindi. However, he later cleared the exam.

Keeping his dreams alive to become an IPS officer, he went on to complete his graduation and then arrived in Delhi where he drove a tempo, worked in a library and walked people’s dogs to pay for his studies to prepare for the competitive examination.

During his employment at the Delhi library, Sharma used to study several books by famous writers such as Maxim Gorky, Abraham Lincoln, and Muktibodh.

During his Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) coaching, Sharma fell in love with Shraddha Joshi, who became his support system during his tough times. The two tied the knot later and are happily married.

Joshi is an IAS officer after successfully passing the UPSC on her first attempt.

Despite failing in his three attempts, Sharma managed to clear UPSC examination and became an IPS officer.

He joined the Maharashtra cadre in 2005 and is currently working in Mumbai as the Additional Commissioner of the West Region.

The couple made a guest appearance in the movie that revolves around the struggles and hardships they both faced during tough times and their dedication towards each other.
