Karachi shivers as cold winds sweep through and mercury plummets to 14C
An ongoing cold wave has taken hold in Karachi after the temperature dropped to 14 degrees Celsius. However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast a further decrease in temperature during two days.
The Met Office in a bulletin on its website, reported that Karachi became cooler on Friday while on Saturday mercury is anticipated to lose one degree Celsius and will remain between 13 and 15 degrees Celsius.
North-easterly winds blowing in Karachi at a speed of 13 kilometres per hour made people shiver in a city that otherwise enjoys moderate weather.
Additionally, light rain or drizzle is also expected in Karachi and other districts of the province.
On the other hand, heavy fog is likely to prevail in Jacobabad, Mohenjodaro, Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Ghotki, Khairpur Padaidan and other upper areas of Sindh during morning and night hours.
Upper areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also experience smog and low temperatures during the day, where the mercury will remain at 0C to 8C.
