Wakhri: Qandeel Baloch inspired movie to hit theatres on Jan 5
Inspired by the life of slain social media star Qandeel Baloch, “Wakhri” will be the first Pakistani movie to hit theatres in 2024.
The film, addressing several social issues, will be released on January 5 next year across cinemas in Pakistan.
“Wakhri” follows a widowed school teacher in Pakistan who becomes a viral sensation overnight when she accidentally unleashes her unabashed opinions on social media.
Faryal Mahmood, who plays the lead role in the movie, said that the movie will take the cinema in a better direction.
She went on to add that the movie was the work of women who joined to make the project possible.
Actor Akbar Islam plays the role of father of the Wakhri in the movie.
He said that the movie highlights the loving relations between a father and daughter.
The music for the movie is directed by Abdullah Siddiqui while Ali Sethi, Meesha Shafi and Natasha Noorani gave voice to the songs of the movie.
