Following the change in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, disappointing performance in the World Cup, and no more Babar Azam as captain, 2023 proved to be a turbulent year for Pakistan cricket.

Earlier in the year, to conduct the Pakistan Cricket Board elections, former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the pattern of PCB, made Najam Sethi the head of the management committee and set the target of conducting the elections in four months, but he took an additional period of three months to conduct the election of the chairman of the board. He could not do it.

Then Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf was appointed as the head of the management committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board in his place, but even after the passage of five months, he was still unable to conduct the board elections.

On the other hand, after the disappointing performance of the national team in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the ICC World Cup in India, not only the foreign team management working under the supervision of team director Mickey Arthur was changed, but Pakistan Cricket Babar Azam, the most successful batsman and the captain with the best record of all previous captains, was also replaced.

Former captain Muhammad Hafeez was made the team director and a new team management consisting of domestic coaches was formed, while Shan Masood was appointed as the Test team leader and Shaheen Afridi as the T20 team captain.

According to cricket experts, the question is whether Zaka Ashraf will be able to conduct board elections.

The next two months will be crucial in this regard, otherwise, another change may be seen in the board and team management.

Let’s see how Shan Masood will be able to be successful in the Test series against Australia and Shaheen Shah Afridi against New Zealand.
