House fire kills nine of family in KP’s Abbottabad
Nine members of a family were killed after fire ripped through a house in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Abbottabad on Sunday, rescue officials said. Mother and eight children were among the deceased.
The house fire was caused by a short circuit in the Treri village of the district, the administration stated and added that the wooden ceiling and pillars caught fire. The roof of the substandard house collapsed.
Footage showed charred wooden logs, which were used in the house construction, as people in the village and rescue officials searched for bodies under the rubble
Bodies were handed over to the relatives of the family.
Relatives said that the head of the family, Zakir Abbasi, was living in Karachi for employment.
Caretaker KP Chief Minister Justice (retd) Arshad Hussain Shah was grieved over the incident and offered his condolences to the family.
He prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace and for patience for the bereaved family.
