Freelance platforms such as Upwork and Fiverr come to mind whenever there is a talk about online earning. However, there are several other venues that could also be used to earn money, from online content creation to e-commerce, to remote work.

Freelancing on platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr, and Freelancer is usually the first choice of any individual entering the online market job.

However, they soon get disappointed over failure to secure a project or job in the first few weeks or months. The reason for this is that most of the buyers choose to opt for an experienced seller who has already built a robust profile and has several projects to his credit.

Freelance Platform For Beginners:

The best course of action for the newcomers will be to explore other freelancing platforms such as People Per Hour, 99designs, Toptal, and Guru among others.

These websites offer opportunities to beginners to offer their skills such as writing, graphic design, programming, and a range of other skills.

Content Creation:

Online content creation on YouTube, blog or social media can also help in generate revenue. In Pakistan, there have been several instances where YouTubers have revealed that they created a YouTube channel just for fun which later gained traction and opened new venues of earning money.

We have seen the examples of Sistrology, a YouTube channel that boost more than 3 million followers. Village Food Secrets, another YouTube channel, which has more than four million followers is among the many examples where the content is worth the most instead of the creator’s background or the language they speak or how they speak it.

An online blog or social media account to post views and updates on daily urban or rural life routines or other subjects that could entertain or educate people can also be a source of earning money.

The platform can later be monetised to earn revenue while pursuing other avenues such as sponsorship deals.

E-Commerce

With the onset of online shopping and home-delivery services, e-commerce has occupied a significant space in the online world.

Amazon, an American technology company focusing on e-commerce is the first name that comes to mind when there is a discussion of e-commerce.

It is considered one of the top technology companies, alongside Alphabet, Apple, Meta and Microsoft.

The platform connects you to millions of its customers around the globe to whom you can sell handmade garments, housewares, electronics, and music among other things.

In Pakistan, Daraz is somewhat similar to Amazon. The platform provides you access to millions of customers who regularly search for a wide range of items.

Sellers have to create an account and list the things they want to sell and wait to receive orders.

Online Coaching:

Another field that could gain traction is online tutoring or coaching. If you have expertise in a particular subject or have a skill set that others want to learn, platforms like Tutor or Teachable could be an option to consider for making money online.

Remote Work:

Work-from-home or Remote jobs are among the high-demand jobs in the Generation Z workers as they prefer to work in an environment of their own.

FlexJobs, Arc, Remote.co, and JustRemote are among the several such platforms having more than 50 remote work categories, with positions ranging from freelancing, to part-time work, to full-time jobs in careers varying from entry-level to executive.

However, patience is a must to succeed in the online job market. It may take a week or months before you land your first job as there are people who have more experience and skills similar to the traditional job market.
