A youth allegedly died by suicide on Monday soon after fatally shooting a girl who rejected his marriage proposal in Islamabad, police said.

The shooting occurred within the jurisdiction of Khanna police station, they added.

According to police, the youth, identified as Akash, shot dead the victim in Sohan Union Council after the latter refused his marriage proposal and then proceeded to shoot himself fatally.

The victim was identified as Toba Shehzadi.

Police arrived at the scene and began an investigation into the matter.
