Cricketer Ahmad Shahzad announced his separation from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has termed the ninth edition’s drafting as ‘pre-planned’ as he was not picked by any of the six franchises.

PSL draft ceremony for season 2024 was held on Wednesday in Lahore at the National Cricket Academy where six franchises Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators, Lahore Qalandars, and Islamabad United had picked players but no one selected Ahmad Shahzad.

A day after, Ahmad Shahzad announced his separation from PSL and shared with his followers that he tried his best in all domestic performances but signalled that he was deliberately neglected.

On his X handle, he wrote: “I have tried hard by giving it all in domestic circuit consistently in last few years and did reasonably well in the National T20 Cup just before the PSL draft.”

“There seems a deliberate effort to keep me out, even when franchises have opted for other performers with inferior numbers than me,” He said.

“When everything is pre-planned so it doesn’t matter,” Shahzad wrote.

Furthermore, he said he exactly knows why he is not part of PSL 9 and his friends and fans will come to know this soon.

While expressing disappointment he said he is parting his ways from PSL, and said: “I will not play the PSL with these 6 teams it seems like a shared responsibility to keep me away from PSL and all franchises have shaken hands.”
