SHO Turbat among others booked for Balochistan youth killing
Police on Saturday filed the first information report against several of its officials for the alleged fake encounter of a Baloch youth in Turbat city of Balochistan.
The FIR was filed on the complaint of the victim’s father Maula Bakhsh who named an official from the Counter Terrorism Department, SHO Turbat police station and investigation officer among others.
The CTD on November 23 said that four alleged terrorists were killed during an exchange of fire. The incident took place at Pasni Road in Turbat, where CTD officials encountered the alleged terrorists, they added.
However, Bakhsh in his FIR alleged that his son, Balach was abducted by unidentified people on October 29 and was kept at an undisclosed location.
He went on to claim that CTD investigation officer Abdullah on November 21 produced his son before a session judge in Turbat who approved a 10-day judicial remand of Balach.
Bakhsh said that he was informed on November 23 that his son along with three others was killed in a “fake encounter.”
Soon after the killing, protestors staged a sit-in against the killing and demanded an investigation into the incident.
Initially, the family of Balach staged the sit-in, however, they were later joined by members of the civil society.
Later, the Balochistan government decided to investigate the killings at the hands of the CTD, sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said that the government set up an inquiry tribunal that will investigate the matter and submit a report within two weeks.
The report will be led by Secretary Fisheries Imran Gichki and will include DIG Quetta, SSP Gwadar and DC Kech.
The report’s recommendations will be implemented by the provincial ministry of interior.
