PTI claims workers released Sher Afzal Marwat from police custody in KP’s Chakdara
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday claimed that the party’s Senior Vice President Sher Afzal Khan Marwat was arrested from Chakdara in the Lower Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The official X account of the party said that Marwat was on his way to Bajaur for tomorrow’s worker convention when he was allegedly abducted.
“We demand his immediate release, these pressure tactics cannot and won’t work. Pre-poll rigging attempts must be immediately stopped,” the party account wrote in a post.
However, the part account soon shared a screenshot of a leader’s post which said that Marwat was released by lawyers and workers from police custody.
“The roads will be blocked until he [Marwat] is on his way safely,” Central Legal Coordinator Mashal Yousafzai wrote on X.
His alleged arrest and consequent release came soon after he addressed a workers convention in the Nowshera city of KP.
