Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja on Thursday assured that the schedule for the upcoming general elections on February 8, 2024, will be issued in the coming days.

Speaking to local newspaper Dawn, a senior official from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said the schedule is likely to be announced on December 14.

District Returning Officers (DROs), Returning Officers (ROs), and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) will also be appointed.

The official said on condition of anonymity that the high courts of the four provinces had refused to dismiss judicial officers for the appointment of DROs and ROs and now officers from the district administration will be summoned to perform these duties.

On the occasion of National Voters’ Day, (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja said that the electoral body is well aware of all its constitutional and legal responsibilities and fully prepared to conduct transparent elections.

Sikandar Sultan Raja said that the election schedule will be given in a few days and assured that the polling will be held on February 8, 2024.

He said that the Election Commission is busy preparing for the general elections. The printing and transmission of the final electoral rolls has been completed while the notification of DRO, RO, and Assistant Officers will be done in a few days.

He said that the people should exercise their right to vote for the bright future of the country and cooperate with the Election Commission.
