Haris Rauf submits reply to PCB’s show cause notice

Haris has cited the reason of withdrawal for not having enough red-ball practice

Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf responded to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) show cause notice over opting out of the Test series in Australia.

The notification emphasizes the need for centrally contracted players to be easily accessible for the national team; however, Rauf stated he would be unable to play for the three games, blaming a lack of red-ball practice for his absence. It is said that he is troubled by the unfair criticism coming from different directions.

As per the notice, centrally contracted players should be unconditionally available for the national team but Haris Rauf had indicated unavailability for the three matches.

According to sources, Haris has cited the reason of withdrawal for not having enough red-ball practice on the back.

It must be noted that newly-appointed Chief Selector Wahab Riaz held a press conference on November 20 where he announced an 18-man squad for the Australia Test tour and also unleashed criticism towards Pakistan’s fast-bowler Haris Rauf for refusing to play the longer format.

Haris came in for criticism from chief selector Wahab Riaz, while team director Mohammad Hafeez told players they must put national team duty above franchise cricket.

Rauf, fellow fast bowler Zaman Khan and leg-spinner Usama Mir have been cleared to play in the Big Bash competition until Dec. 28, the board said in a statement on Monday.
