A woman who was set on fire allegedly by her employer in Lahore while working as a maid-servant has recorded a video statement after regaining consciousness.

Shabnam has claimed that she has received threats from the lady of the house, Shazia, who, she claimed, had set her on fire after dousing her with petrol.

Police arrested Shazia’s husband Naeem on November 29, after Shabnam was brought to the hospital with serious burns. Shazia, however, remains at large.

Shabnam, who is undergoing treatment, demanded justice from Punjab IG Usman Anwer in a video statement saying that she received death threats from the accused as she belongs to an influential family.

Shabnam also expressed fear for her children and said that if anything happened to her children, Shazia would be responsible for it, as she was still out of police custody.

After regaining sense, Shabnam’s first worry was about her children being hungry.

The police recorded the statements of the victim and her family on Friday night.

Shabnam was allegedly doused with petrol and set on fire by Shazia after a heated exchange between them.

Shazia had asked the maid for hot water, over which there was an argument.
