The Islamabad High Court disposed of a petition by Fawad Chaudhry for better facilities in jail after being told that the politician has been given B-class in jail.

Chaudhry’s petition was heard by Justice Gul Hassan Aurangzeb, where DC Islamabad Captain (r) Anwaar ul Haq appeared to submit a response in person.

The DC submitted an implementation report saying Chaudhry had been given B-class in jail and was provided all the facilities that the jail manual allowed.

The court also ordered that Chaudhry should be allowed to consult his lawyers and meet his wife in privacy.

The judge also told the jail’s deputy superintendent to respect the dignity of the petitioner. He said that meetings with family and lawyers were denied to Benazir Bhutto and Asif Zardari and such incidents had brought shame to officers handling jails.

The court also asked details of how many cases Chaudhry was being held in, to which his lawyer replied he only had knowledge of one case.

The former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader was arrested from his house on November 4. He is accused of taking bribes from a person after promising him a job.
