‘Pray for us,’ people stranded in shopping mall blaze tell relatives
A 20-year-old man, identified as Bilal was killed in a blaze sparked in RJ mall on Saturday called his uncle and said, “There has been a severe fire here, pray for us.”
Bilal and Muhammad Salman who live on the same street were among the eleven killed in the fire in the Karachi shopping mall, both were working the night shift in the mall’s food court.
Bilal’s uncle told journalists that his nephew used to wrap up his duty at 4:00 AM, and his family asked him to leave the workplace after offering morning prayer.
Bilal, who was a student of Intermediate asked his family to pray and told them they had been struck by fire.
Salman and Bilal live in the same area and they used to go to work together, added Bilal’s uncle.
Additionally, another body from the RJ mall blaze shifted to Jinnah Medical and Postgraduate College and was identified as Bilal Tajuddin, 27, who is going to tie the knot next month.
At 6:00 AM we got a call from Tajuddin and he said: “We were trapped in a fire and we should be rescued,” said a relative of Tajuddin who got free from duty at 4:00 AM and waited for sunrise.
At least 11 died as a result of the fire at RJ Mall located on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi.
