Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar congratulated Australia for winning the World Cup 2023 trophy by defeating India in the final of the tournament on Sunday.

“Phenomenal innings by Travis Head. Well played, Team India, better luck next time!” he wrote in a post on X.

Australia made another record after winning their sixth ODI World Cup at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Opening batter Travis Head led Australia’s chase by hitting 137 as they chased down the 241-target set by India.

The Aussies won the toss and elected to bowl first. They restricted the hosts of the World Cup to 240 runs in 50 overs and chased down the target in 43 overs.
