Residents urged to wear masks as Karachi air pollution increased

AQI indicates the worst quality of air in the city with 185 unhealthy particles

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has advised residents of Karachi to wear a mask when they are going outside as the unhealthy particles in the air can affect their immunity.

Karachi has been witnessing dry weather for a week and it was noted that the mercury goes up in the afternoon, today the Met Office predicted that the temperature will stay around 31 to 33 degrees Celsius.

The morning was recorded cold as mercury was standing at 20 degrees Celsius at the commencement of the day.

According to the Met Office, the winds blowing from the northwestern direction with a speed of 5 to 10 kilometers per hour contain 54 percent humidity.

“It is anticipated that the momentum of winds will increase until the end of the day,” says PMD

However, the Air Quality Index (AQI) indicates the worst quality of air in the city with 185 unhealthy particles.
